Too Cool For School

Too cool for school. Yes that’s what I like to call Influencer Marketing.

Influencer Marketing may be new to you but it’s not a new tactic in the world of marketing. Really advertisers have been using celebrities, sports stars or people of influence to sell products since the beginning of time for lack of a better term.

Influencer marketing brings that same tactic and it is a tactic into the world of social media and social media marketing.

Open any of your favourite social media apps and you’ll see that influencer marketing plays a big part both online and offline marketing these days.

What exactly is an influencer?

An influencer is someone in your niche or industry with sway over your target audience. Influencers have specialized knowledge, authority or insight into a specific subject. Their pre-existing presence in a niche makes them a useful launching pad for brands in search of credibility.

What is influencer marketing and how does it work?

At its core, influencer marketing is the process of using external content creators, or influencers, to advocate and engage with your brand’s message.

As part of this, the influencers present their content to their audience, increasing brand awareness and helping to convert their audience into your customers

What is an example of influencer marketing?

Many brands use influencer marketing to reach their target audience. This is the key part of why they do it and how anyone can do it and make it work.

Big brands like Motorola, Adidas, Pepsi, and Dunkin’ Donuts all use influencer marketing. Adidas has been using influencer marketing to promote their products for years now. They use influencer marketing to target a younger audience through Instagram.

What About User Generated Content?

User generated content or (UGC) is something that brands are starting to pay more and more attention to as often the people who use the platforms everyday who can have more influence than any celebrity.

It makes sense really when you think about it because any person who has an Instagram account likely will be influenced by their friends who post a product they may want.

User generated content means that people are generating their own content and that it’s available and ready to use for brands or company’s who are not only paying attention but have knowledge of their target audience and why they buy.
